To celebrate our 4th birthday (1st October 2018) we have teamed up with our favourite indie publishers VERVE Poetry Press to publish ‘Why Poetry?’: The Lunar Poetry Podcasts Anthology. The anthology features poems from 28 former podcast guests paired with quotes taken from the guests’ interviews and an interview with me about the history of the series.
For a long time I’ve been thinking about supplementing the Arts Council funding we’ve received, and that is due to end next month, with a Patreon account or similar crowd-funder to help finance the series. Instead my wife and co-editor Lizzy and I have pledged to re-invest all the money we make from this book back into paying for episode transcripts. A number of the anthology contributors have already donating their work for free to the book and this already means that the series is guaranteed to be transcribed throughout 2019.
Put a little more simply – supporting us by buying the book means helping us to remain as accessible as possible for as long as possible.
As of today (27th September, 2018) you’ll be able to buy the anthology from your local bookshop, by request if they don’t already stock it. Alternatively, you can order it here direct from the publisher, the best deal for us and VERVE.
Full list of poets included: Travis Alabanza, Sandra Alland, Khairani Barokka, Zeina Hashem Beck, Leo Boix, Mary Jean Chan, Donald Chegwin, Grim Chip, Rishi Dastidar, Susannah Dickey, Nadia Drews, Joe Dunthorne, Harry Josephine Giles, Melissa Lee-Houghton, Keith Jarrett, Anna Kahn, Luke Kennard, Sean Wai Keung, Nick Makoha, Roy McFarlane, Paul McMenemy, Kim Moore, Helen Mort, Abi Palmer, Amerah Saleh, Giles Turnbull, Lizzy Turner, Jane Yeh.
A huge thank you to all of our listeners, old and new. Thank you so much for supporting us and poetry in general.
